welp I just did this in 1 day, im too lazy to give this a proper PR so if there’s any mistakes anywhere please let me know. Thankfully, the next part of the epilogue is half the pages of this part. Procrastination really does make me translate faster lol.
一一一The next morning,
The fact that I didn’t notice that Sun-chan was controlling things from behind the scenes ever since Cosmos and Himawari started consulting with me shocked me, and in the end, I received only a position in the worst caste in the school.
And so, everything that I had built up so far, was completely lost.
I thought I was doing my best though…. All that hard work ended up being pointless.
…..It would have been good to play it low like a cat after all… I messed up…..

I let out a sigh as I walked past the school gate.
Now then, the first trial is my shoe cubby. I’m talking about my indoor shoes. Please let them be safe.
Yesterday they were filled with clay, so of course, what would happen today?
Maybe they’ll put some rubber tongs at the tip of my shoes so that they can run an electric current through them. Can I even survive that?

About 10 metres from my shoe cubby, my feet suddenly stopped.
Well of course I would. For some reason, there’s a single person standing in front of my shoe cubby.
They were standing there with a dignified figure while flipping through the pages of their favourite, pink-coloured notebook.
The girl who broke off relations with me through msgs— Cosmos.
「That’s my shoe box. Hurry and get out of here.」
It seems like that was not effective at all, as she’s now scowling at me.
If anything, that might have ruined her mood, as she walked towards me with powerful steps.
「W-what…..」
Cosmos stared at me with a pouting face.
I don’t know what’s happening but, this is extremely frightening. I wonder if it’s okay to run away?
「…..It’s nothing.」
Saying just that, she walked past me and left.
What the hell is up with her?
Well, whatever. First my shoes….. Oh! Nothing happened to them today!
Lucky-! Haha~ Now then, that Cosmos, she was standing here right?
And because of her, no one else was able to do anything I guess.
Kukuku, not bad not bad, you were pretty useful, I’ll give you that.

Putting on my extremely ordinary and wonderful indoor shoes, I headed to my classroom.
Now then, after the shoe cubby, next is the classroom’s trial. I hope my seat is safe and sound.
Yesterday there were some thumbtacks from a supermarket ready on my seat, so of course I’d be wondering what would happen today.
In order to get resistance for electrical currents, I prepared some rubber, but can I even withstand something like that?

I stopped walking when I was about 5 meters from my seat.
Well of course I would. For some reason, there was already a person sitting in my seat.
They were clinging onto my desk with their cheeks puffed out as if it was their own desk.
It was a girl who left a spot open for the role of childhood friend– Himawari.
「That’s my seat. You’re in the way so beat it.」
「….Muu」
Displeased with what I said, Himawari puffed her cheeks out even more.
But, complying with my words she silently stood up.
「If you’ve got somethin’ to say then say it.」
With the face of that of a pouting kid, Himawari looked at me.
It’s easy to see what she’s thinking, but it’s whatever since she isn’t as scary as Cosmos.
「…..Nothing at all!」
Saying that remark, she immediately walked away and returned to her own seat.
I don’t really get it……. But, you did a decent job didn’t you Himawari.
Since you were on standby covering my desk like that no one did anything, and the proof is that there’s no thumbtacks on my seat today. Now I can sit down without having to worry.
*Exhale* It’s a little lukewarm but, it’s been awhile since I could sit in my chair normally like this.
Wait, Cosmos and Himawari…… they helped me out right?

「Whoa! W-what do you want?」
A voice from behind blew away my question.
Looking over my shoulder while surprised, I saw Sun-chan standing there.
He didn’t have his usual bright expression, instead he had a serious expression on as if he was standing at the batter’s mound during a match and stared at me.
「This match isn’t over. We’ve only just done 9 innings, so I can still come back from behind.」1
「What?」
I tilted my head really hard, but I still didn’t get it.
San-chan said only that before he went and sat down at his own seat.
Wait match….? It’s the baseball club’s ace versus the only member of the school’s lowest caste you know?
It’s already not a match right?
What the heck. There’s a lot I’m not understanding.

一一一Lunch time.
During today’s Homeroom period in the morning, the worst thing that could’ve happened to me happened.
Just as the homeroom teacher finished talking about some trivial matters, Sun-chan stood up and started talking.
About how the girl he liked in the past fell in love with me, and how he resented me.
About how in order to get rid of this resentment, he purposefully tricked me and got everyone to misunderstand the situation.
About how he had to use people in order to achieve that…….
That’s right. He revealed just about everything about the matter that happened this time to the whole class.
He properly left out Cosmos’ and Himawari’s names in order to not cause them any trouble.
And then after he was done talking, he bowed very deeply while kneeling on the ground and apologized to the class.2
Confused, I looked at Himawari but I guess she also didn’t know about this since she had a surprised look on her face.
And so as a result of what Sun-chan did, I was released from my horrible situation.
Some of my classmates came and apologized, even saying that they won’t do it again.
Of course, there’s no way we can be on friendly terms again but, at least now I won’t have to suffer through anything.
But, this isn’t the conclusion that I wanted.
The reason is, after helping me out, Sun-chan has now taken my place as a sacrifice.
Up until today, I’ve been harassed in various ways.
Now, there’s the possibility that Sun-chan will become the new target.
That’s worse than me being the target.
Why would he do this? Thinking about the reason behind his actions, one person came to mind.
There’s one other person besides me, a person who knew everything about this situation, and since I was suspicious of Sun-chan’s actions, I headed to the library in order to confirm the situation.

To the person at the reception desk….. I said that to Pansy while scowling, and for some reason she seemed displeased and scowled back at me with her sharp eyes.
「You’re wrong. This is your doing.」
「Haa!?」
To the sharp words that Pansy said, I let out a loud and idiotic voice.
It’s my fault? I didn’t really…… do anything is hard to say.
「If I’m speaking honestly, this situation is also very troubling for me as well. Since things have ended up like this, I didn’t even have to secure insurance.」
Apparently it really wasn’t her fault, and she let out a sulky voice.

「What does that mean?」
「Don’t ask and please think about it yourself. Since you’re seriously such an idiot.」

「I’ll tell you this time since you went through some stuff because of my mistakes, however next time I won’t tell you anything okay?」

*Exhales* …….I don’t know what mistakes she’s talking about but, anyways it seems like she’s going to tell me.

「I think you already understand this but, while Ooga-kun did have a lot of resentment for you, fundamentally he is a good person. A person who is bright and lively, and hates to lose. You understand that right?」
Of course I would. Right now we have an unusually awkward relationship but, we were best friends for many years.

In response to my words, Pansy’s eyes turned sharp once again. I instinctively shrunk back from her intense stare.
「I said it earlier didn’t I? That I wouldn’t tell you next time. I don’t want to lie to you but, if I tell you then you’ll become disadvantaged.」
Pansy turned her head to the side and puffed out her cheeks.
What the heck, because this is the first time I’ve seen her this sulky, it’s a little interesting.
「Let’s end this conversation here. Since you’ve come here, I need to properly try my best~」
Letting out a breath after a short pause, she must have calmed herself down since her returned to her usual indifferent tone.
What a relief….. I’m really glad she returned to her usual self….
I was so scared, I nearly pissed my pants.4
「Hey, Jouro-kun. There’s something I want to ask you.」
Getting up from behind the reception desk, Pansy walked over in front of me.
「You want to ask me something? What is it?」
「Do you want to know why Sun-chan fell in love with me?」
What the hell is this girl saying?
I want to ask why she would ask if I wanted to hear about that, but I’m afraid she’ll get angry so let’s not.
「I heard already. It’s because you comforted Sun-chan after he was feeling all depressed after that championship game.」

Then, is it really as Pansy says? Did Sun-chan really lie at that time?
If so, then why did he fall in love with Pansy? Was it love at first sight? Is it even possible to fall in love with this plain girl with glasses and braids at first sight? If that’s what happened then that’s at a point where I have to recommend going to the optometrist.

I let out a pathetic, quivering voice as Pansy came closer to me in order cuddle.

I know that this is the whispers of the devil, but I can’t stop listening.
「Will you not come to the library anymore?」
Pansy asked me the same question as yesterday.
「….I’ll come occasionally.」
「If you don’t come everyday, I won’t show this appearance~」
「…..I’ll come everyday.」
Hearing my words, Pansy looked downwards.
「I’m happy. I really super happy. Finally…. I’ve managed to make it this far~」
With her face still facing downwards, Pansy’s body was trembling.
「Oi, are you ok…. ow! What the hell are you doing?!」
The moment I looked into Pansy’s face, a book hit my face.
The story was, “The Tortoise and the Hare”, from Aesop’s Fables.6
「Jouro-kun, you’re a kind person who would give their best and work hard for the sake of the people important to you, rather than yourself. Because you’re like that, I’ll give you a reward~」
Pansy said that with a calm and composed voice, as if her behaviour earlier was all a lie. Seriously this girl is一

In an instant, all my thoughts were blow away by a soft sensation on my cheek.
Pansy pressed her lips against my cheek. It was only for less than a second…. I’m sure of it.
「…..Phew, I did your best~」
After kissing my cheek, Pansy immediately took some distance away from me.
That was quite embarrassing wasn’t it? Her face was incredibly flushed.
But, I could not laugh at that. The reason being, I was in the same state.
「I-I-I’ll just say this, the fact that I hate you hasn’t changed.」
「That’s true. You don’t want to kiss me. You don’t want to express that kind of emotion right?」
Stuff like my minimal resistance was not effective. Together with her words, Pansy once again came closer to me.
「After what happened this time….. with you who I’ve come to love more than anyone else in the world…… I want to kiss and do various things together~」
Pansy brought my hand closer to her using her hand. I couldn’t bare to brush away her frail and trembling hand.
「Did you know?」
I guess Pansy was confident.
Because of her showing me her real self, she managed to get me to come to the library again…….
*sigh*….. What do I have to do in order to get away from her? She’s seriously a dangerous girl.
「Hey, since I did my best, will you give me a reward?」
「There’s no way I can do that!」
「Ara, that’s too bad.」
It seems like she’s enjoying this, laughing with a mischievous expression. She put more power into her hand, and grasped my hand tighter.
The person in question is quite embarrassed about this. The proof is her flushed face and trembling body.
And, her quartz-like eyes captured me with their beauty, and her marshmallow-like lips smoothly moved.
「Let’s get along from now on too okay~ The worst, reckless, and unkind Amatsuyu Kisaragi.」
「Shut it. The worst, gloomy, unable to know what you’re thinking about Sumireko Sanshokuin.」
For sure this girl’s appearance is good. It’s perfect.
However, as expected there’s no way I can like her insides.
This is natural. Because this girl has always been doing the absolute worst “malicious” things to me.
Therefore, no matter how long this extremely beautiful girl is in front of me, let’s remember my feelings at that time.
